  1. All of these problems still exist today because we didn't listen to Milton.

  2. im 4 minutes into the video and "woah" that's genius, why haven't we applied these? this is brilliant

  3. Television used to be intelligent, well-dressed, professional, and informative; we have regressed.

  4. Ladies & gents, stop mentioning how "more civilized things were back then" and start understanding and using these things and try to convince (not coerce) people of these ideas. They are marvelous and will lead to a better life for everyone. Best

  5. Milton's ideas were not functionable to this day were are worse off.not only he doesn't know what he's talking about taxes ,or how they are supposed to applied.

  6. The problem with the NTI idea (much like the problem with UBI) is that, in practice, it would not replace welfare. It is very hard to get politicians to remove redistributive policies that are already in place. Nobody wants to seem cold-hearted and cruel by calling for "reductions in welfare." Hence, the NTI would exist as an extra payout.

  7. My God, I can’t imagine what it would be like to be one of the people that are the subject of this conversation. No thank you.

  8. I still haven't found a decent reason why people shouldn't be given money with no catch. It would give people true freedom to live their lives, and eliminate misery significantly.
So what if some people are slobs and don’t want to work. If people are supposedly at their best when practicing an entrepreneurial spirit – more power and success to them!

  9. The key point to take away imo is that there has to be an incentive to work and that incentive has to be substantial. UBI or NIT has to think that through. Otherwise the country will lose their competitive edge and eventually will degrade which will make everyone worse off. It's why I do like Milton's ideas. He is always thinking about the incentive, because that incentive will generate growth and prosperity for all!

  10. yep, love his idea
INSTEAD of gvt programs which are gap filling .. disincentivising people to work by losing the entirety of this gap filling by earning something ..
so either you earn good .. or you don't work at all .. everything else makes no sense

  11. I find these hilarious. The same leftists who keep putting Milton on the list of Radical Right Wingers actually agree with him. NYT even had him in the picture collage on their article about it. They just blindly believe whatever they are told and have never actually listened to him. They just get told he is anti minimum wage and fill in the "racist, bigoted, nazi" themselves.

  12. I like how they say the N-word without malice and racism but instead describing a group of people

  13. Sounds like a good idea at the time the question is who would oversee those plans from being manipulated into a scam??? The red tape would cause delays & providing proof of this & that would drive people mad. Well the current welfare system is like that already so I see no difference.

  14. Has this accent been forever lost in time? It sounds so polite and easy to hear.

  15. I like the " I wanna help the poor … but if they have money and are treated exactly as me and they are not shamed into the workforce i'll have a stroke xD"

Rest in peace Milton, you live in the free spirit of mankind <3

  16. Milton Friedman supported this as a better solution than the current structure, but ultimately wanted complete abolishment of income taxes as the best solution.

  17. AMERICA AMERICA AMERICA AMERICA I LVOE MY EGLE AND MY GNS AND OOOOOILE FUCK GOVTTT

  18. In some countries our entire system is a welfare state because wealth redistribution benefits everyone, our society is living on a hand out of a higher standard of living that comes from the rich and the unborn, such as healthcare, welfare, child welfare and progressive tax system, the fiat currency system allows for greater growth amongst everyone but it's coming at a cost of overpopulation and pure destruction of our planet. Wealth redistribution will drive society into the ground.

  19. A conservative conversing with a libertarian. Liberals/socialists not invited because they would have started shouting the other two down.

  20. Question: what incentive would a poor worker have to earn more under the Negative Income Tax?

  21. Why was the best solution to combat poverty already present over 30 years ago and I never heard anything about it?

  22. Trading as a beginner was very difficult due to lack on trading experience, this resulted in losing my funds though I've been able to recover all that I lost, all thanks to Mr Dennis__forex09 at Instagram , i never knew good trader still existed till I come in touch with him..

  23. So if the minimum wage was $15/hour and the negative income tax was 50% on incomes less than 20,000 then some one would only earn $7.50/hr for the first $20,000 of work. This is a huge disincentive to work.

  24. Scrapping the income tax entirely and replacing it with a national consumption tax (exempted for food and medicine) is the way to go. That way, all the people who pay nothing in income taxes now have to pay their fair share. Also it would incentivize savings which is much more beneficial for the economy in the long run than spending. Getting rid of the income tax also would save countless hours that are now squandered on compliance and also help avoid all the loopholes for the well connected. It's the best solution out there for taxation.

  25. Welfare reform, I wish I could get someone to listen to me. IF you fall on bad luck and your unemployment runs out and all your efforts have failed and you need to go on welfare. Level 1: you don't work and you live in an open gymnasium with bunk beds and hundreds of other people you get a 20×20 storage locker for your stuff. Public restrooms and a cafeteria. It would be easy to have security watch over everyone in an open environment and provide basics for people. Free busing to free healthcare & local employment office. If you get a good job and don't need it, skip Level 2, but if you need gradual help, move to Level 2 if you want out of this lifestyle. Level 1 only provides uncomfortable level of the most BASIC needs, no luxury. Make them uncomfortable!!!!! Level 2: You get a job, but you can't afford to fully support yourself, but you are trying. You get a small apartment and food card. Full access to training deemed important by the government. If the gov't sees a need to employ more workers in X, Y or Z fields, they provide this training. You have a timer START, you have X months to get off, or you go back to Level 1. It is a SHOW initiative and move on, or go back to the basics program. We don't have the need to provide everything, you had your chance at choice, now the gov't is helping and you take what is offered. INCLUDING people needing to move! Tons of open jobs are in the U.S. every day, people need to accept that they might have to move to a different state to make a better life for themselves. No one should be rooted like a tree and expect the world to give them full employment where they want to live.

  26. One problem with this idea is that the poor people will effectively have to pay 50% taxes on every extra dollar they earn. If 50% taxes is considered too much for rich people, how are we going to convince poor people to pay that much? But if you lower the rate, then the break-even point is very high and the state loses a lot of taxes. So it's difficult to find the right balance here. But in general, the idea is worth consideration!
