  1. Thank you for this perfect tutorial. Is there any way to "remove" the controller-exclusive obstacle? Device management from at least 1-3 PCs (Controllers) should be possible in a way!

  2. Need to get a raspberry device to install the software, and have it always running it. Great job planning to move into a new house out TX..
Do you think this device will support CAT8 ? I am currently using it at home and the speeds are great. I'm getting what I'm paying for and more.
    Great job on the video.

  3. My AP wasn't being recognized by the controller (software on my PC). However, after rebooting the PC it came right up, in case anyone else has a similar issue.

  4. Seems worth pointing out here that the AP wants 48V, and the EdgeRouter's port 5 puts out… 24V. UBNT is, I gather, the only major purveyor of 24V PoE gear…

  5. I have a question for you…I run 3 UniFi® HD In-Wall throughout my home and my 4th AP is in my basement which is unfinished and there I run UniFi® AP AC PRO. My in wall units have no problem switching off from unit to unit depending on where we are in the house. When we go into the basement, we rarely switch off to the basement unless I reconnect what ever device is down there (i.e. smart phone). I even have a ring pro chime that is located in the basement but it typical connects to the AP in my kitchen instead of the basement. My question is, do you think my system is not switching off because the basement AP is a different device than the other AP's in my home? If not, do you have a hunch what the issue might be? If not sure, do you know the best place to find an answer? Apparently there is not much customer support on this system via Unifi. TIA

  7. Super useful! I would have liked to see doing a setup of more than one access point in the same environment but this was great anyways thank you

  8. 1:42 Sorry for being dummy, but do I have to connect it to router ?
Main point of getting repeater for me is that I can't drill holes in the floor and can't get ethernet cable dowstairs where signal is weaker… Is it necessary or I can plug LAN to my laptop instead ?

  9. thank you for the tutorial!
It is worth mentioning that some ports should be open on the PC where "controller" is installed.
for example 8080 is used for device (e.g. access point) and controller communication. I think it is not possible to adopt the device if the port is closed on the PC where "controller" is installed.

  10. Hi, great video mate so thanks for that. Do i need to check that my router supports "PoE"? As far as im aware it allows the router to supply power to the AP. Do all routers do that? Or should i check first? Thanks again

  11. Thank you so much. I’ve watched a few videos and some make is sound so complicated. One thing I wasn’t sure of was whether I have to have the controller running 24 / 7, apparently not unless I want the data
    Thanks again

  12. Can Ubiquiti U6-LR-US work without a switch? I mean can we check the users who are connected to wifi and manage the bandwidth etc… all without any additional devices like server and switches?

If Setup is like this: Ethernet from Internet Provider -> POE+ Switch -> Ubiquiti U6-LR-US

  13. Quality content! Looking for a video(maybe you have it) on creating a separate vlan for iot devices. I have the USG, POE switch and lite access point.

  14. I was wondering if you don't want to have a local server, and you take the cloud option, do you get the same diagnostic and analysis functionality as having the local server?

  15. Super useful intro video. I'm wanting to move away from Linksys. Does the controller software have any scheduling features to limit network access per device? Say, to limit network on devices from 10pm to 7am? Does it allow a keyword filter or website blocking? Thanks!

  16. Hi mate happy new year, awesome video by the way i was just wondering once setup is complete is the Unify married to the IP address of the router or can it change without adopting again and going through the whole setup.

  17. Question: When you manage the APs locally on a device (home computer), do you need to have that computer running 24/7 as a server for wifi access? Or using that Rasp Pi that you mentioned? Or can the APs run if that computer is asleep/powered off? Around 18:00 mins you mentioned that you don't need it on at all times so I think this is answered. In other words, it sounds like I would have wifi access through the APs without the controller (could or local) running, but to have real time data and statistics, I would need to have that running?

  18. can i just add my exisiting SSIDs to the APs? This way there aren't new SSID's on the network? I added my exisiting 2.4 and 5 wifi SSIDs on both APs but devices never connect to the APs and only to the ISP modem. Hope that makes sense.
